The starting locations of the map are bottom left and top right I believe.
Yellow minerals are high yield minerals.

Looks like the gold minerals define starting locations (top left, bot right). That’s a good idea. The map preview for maps you haven’t played before would give you a quick visual rundown of closest expansions…

Map looks cool. Is the thing in the yellow mineral location an obstacle or the location of the starting place?
