Blizzard has announced that a StarCraft 2 tournament will take place during this year’s Worldwide Invitational event in Paris, on the 28th and 29th of June. The 2 versus 2 tournament will pitch WWI visitors against each other and give them a chance to win prizes.
To enter the tournament, players must have a ticket for the WWI event, and sign up here. A qualifying competition will be held by GosuGamers, where hopeful participants will compete in a 2v2 StarCraft: Brood War single elimination tournament.
The Prizes are:
- First Prize: A Frostmourne Replica
- Second Prize: Logitech G51 Surround Sound Speaker System
- Third Prize: Logitech G15 Keyboard and a Logitech G5 mouse

In summary:
- Have a 2008 Blizzard Worldwide Invitational ticket and have StarCraft: Brood War
- Before May 13th 00:01am CET: Sign up on the Blizzard Worldwide Invitational site
- Before May 23rd 00:01am CET: Confirm attendance in the qualifiers run by GosuGamers
- May 24th and 25th: Be one of the best 16 teams at the qualifiers
- June 28th before 11:00am CET: Confirm attendance on-site at the 2008 Worldwide Invitational in Paris

Don’t have StarCraft: Brood War and want to participate in the tournament? You’re in luck! Blizzard has launched a new online store which now offers most of Blizzard’s games for download. For 14.99$, the StarCraft Anthology, featuring StarCraft and StarCraft: Brood War, can be downloaded straight into your computer.
Creating an account for the store also allows those of you who own physical versions of Blizzard’s games to register them on the site and have digital access to them indefinitely, from any computer.
Another bonus to creating an account, even if you’re not planning on purchasing a Blizzard game in the future, is the beta-test eligibility. Signing up and requesting to join the beta-test lottery gives you a chance to participate in future Blizzard beta-tests - perhaps even for StarCraft 2!

“Frostmourne angers”
Weird loot for a SC event, have to say.
I guess they couldn’t quite replicate a Psi-Blade…
Hey Terrano you going to the WWI?
A week for updates and then this… Sc2blog cumon.
Youve had better days
LOL…maybe a test at BETA. But currently, they seem to be editing or redesigning the stuffs that are alredy in the game which will slow down the progress of the development. Haihz, guess it’s just 50:50 that the game will be released this year, even though a BETA is coming, it is already MAY, that’s half of 2008. A BETA last around 2-3 or 4 months which makes it around October or November. Come on guys.
4 months are only a 1/3rd of 2008, so not all hope is lost
I hope the beta is released this year at least…
u know, if SC2 gets released on the same date all over the world, then Im gonna get it at least 20 hours b4 u guys (assuming ur american) NEW ZEALAND RULES!!!!
@George
What I meant was that the BETA has not been releasesd yet. Comparing with other games, a BETA will last for around 4 months before the game will be released. Sorry if my message wasn’t thet clear.
@Nattaboy
are you sure that New Zealand will get the game first?? If yes then…WOOHOO!!! We’re in the same boat dude!
Well, im just hoping that game is released on the SAME date all over the world, in which case i’ll get it before america.
But realistically, based on some massive games released recently (GTA4), America will want it first and so will get it about 5 days early.
sigh…
