StarCraft 2 will be released for the XBOX 360 – this unsurprising rumor has started after one of Altgn’s users has stumbled upon a strange selling-point feature for a game on Microsoft Retail Zone website.
The question which was found on Microsoft Retail Zone was:
Q. Which of the following are defining features of Universe at War?
1. The first ever Xbox 360/PC cross-platform RTS
2. Tactical dynamics create the best RTS until Starcraft 2.
3. Truly unique factions and customization
4. Free one-month Games for Windows LIVE Gold subscription
5. All of the above
6. None of the above
Now, assuming this is a good-faith, completely out-of-the-blue answer, this is pretty much the equivalent of Microsoft asking
Q) Which of the following are defining features of MicroSoft Office 2007?
A1)…
A2) It’s the best Office suite, until Open Office 2.6 is released.
A3) ….
Which is quite unreasonable – creating awareness for a piece of software that Microsoft has nothing to do with, and is a future competitor of the product which is the subject of the question itself. On the other hand, the RTS genre has quite a dedicated crowd, and there is a slim chance that Microsoft sincerely believes one of Universe at War’s key selling points is that it will keep gamers entertained until StarCraft 2 hits the RTS playground.
Either way, a console version of StarCraft 2 is a rather predictable move, especially considering the fact that StarCraft 64 was released for the Nintendo 64, and Blizzard spent 4 years (2002-2006) developing StarCraft Ghost, a console-oriented action game based in the StarCraft universe.

Blizzard, seeing that recent RTS titles such as Command and Conquer 3 were successfully ported to consoles, and with the XBOX 360 offering all the needed multiplayer capabilities as well as tested RTS control schemes, has little reason to not offer StarCraft 2 on as many platforms as technologically possible.

Well, that would be nice. But it’s mostly unlikely XBOX 360 players would play against PC players, dunno why.
unless suxbox360 users plan on using keyboard + mouse to play SC2, theres no way they could micro task anywhere close to a PC user.
I think having SC2 playable for something besides the computer would be a great idea. Blizzard created Starcraft Broodwar for the N64 and I found it enjoyable to play with a friend (2 player). SC2 could be a great multiplayer game for a gaming console beside the computer. Why would SC2 for the xbox360 have to be online? Or perhaps, if you could go online, the 360 users wouldn’t be able to play the PC users. If I could go 4 player with SC2 on a 50″ T.V., that would be loads of fun…
I don’t see how you can call this a reasonable rumor, seeing as the game is being developed for windows as well as 360. If it was 360-exclusive, then you could call it that. Until then… well…
Keep in mind who the intended audience for these questions were: Retailers. Also keep in mind that it was a quiz. Had Open Office cost money and was sold at retailers, that example is no longer that unreasonable.
I’d also like to remind everyone that a console version of StarCraft II has been outright denied by Blizzard from the start.
^^^^^^^^
exactly.
aint gonna happen.
Nice comment by Maged.
I do appreciate SC2blog’s enthusiasm and careful following of anything related to starcraft 2’s development.

What a stupid entry. We all know this isn’t going to happen.
Is problably a possibility. But you may plug a keyboard and a mouse in the USB ports of the XBox to play them…
dumbasses the xbox has a keyboard for chat and the controler is the mouse wouldnt be that hard
Consoles are for retards.
Also, it has already been clearly stated that SC2 is a PC exclusive.
Go play your Mario Brothers.
I realy think Blizzard should reconsider making SC2 for xbox 360. They made Brood War for the nintendo 64. Why can’t they do it for xbox?? They would bring in lots of more money and people would be happier. Blizzard should do that because I only have one comp in my house and my dumb ass step dad is always on it.. I’m on my iPod at the moment b/c he is on the dam comp. And the person who said consoles suck.. u can suck my fucken ballz cause they kick ass!!!!
Well I admire the “not possible comments”. Most of this comments are almost all justified in: 1) I don’t like it,2) there is no keboard, and 3) they said it would only do it for pc. This all three excuses are laim. This isn’t about you like it or not. It’s about what sells more. More possibilities meen more money. The game can well adapt with a controler, like they’ve done it before. And finaly if they said no, doesn’t meen that is true… just look at the release dates and you’ll realize that nothing is writen on stone. They surelly gain more fans, and most of all money. It’s more likely a “yes” than a “no”.
i think it would b a great idea for it to come on the xbox 360 asap….it would bring money…its good for busness
